Olympia & OliveCampus Classics is a retail collegiate Greek brand based in Indianapolis, IN. While having sold both fraternity and sorority since 1989, their presence is much stronger in fraternity Greek life.
In hopes of becoming a more formidable brand in the sorority scene, Campus Classics spun off their sorority side of business into it own brand, Olympia & Olive. The goal was to be able to brand, market, and better serve sorority women in their time in Greek life on campus. I had the opportunity to create several branding packets while working at Campus Classics as senior graphic designer. We brainstormed names as well as logos and eventually developed an identity we are proud to produce. See the live store here! |
Initial Branding Ideation
While we were still in the early stages of creating the new sorority brand, we threw around a lot of brand names and styles. We initially did a lot of ideation to see what sparked further creativity and direction. Eventually, we narrowed our focus and decided we like the general direction of the "goddess on campus" logo (far right). This was an elite and classy logo with a feeling unlike the other competition in the current sorority market.
Olympia & Olive Branding Ideation
Once we had landed on the name for the brand, we did another round of logo concepts. We'd established that we wanted to name the brand "Olympia & Olive" based on a Manet painting named "Olympia", hoping to channel the same feminine boldness and value. Keeping that in mind, I went for softer, feminine, but deep/mature colors. I wanted to give the young women shopping this brand the feeling of beauty and value.
